August 5, 2010, Great Northern Railway Logo

This is the painting created today.  Yesterday’s painting of the depot reminded me of the old logo of the Great Northern Railway, and how appealing “Rocky” the goat was.  I looked through a box of old buttons and found this button pin from 1965.  The Great Northern very strongly promoted the message of work safety, and I remember many posters and printed pieces with the message of safety on the job.  This is an oil on canvas,  3 inches by 2.5 inches, mounted on wood.

Printed on the button is “Be Safety Wise Stay Alive In ’65”.
