August 4, 2010, The Old Depot

Here is the painting created today.  There are many old railway depots in Montana, some creatively restored and in use, but sadly some are abandoned to deteriorate.  I love these old structures, with their tall windows, wooden platforms, and often the old wooden passenger waiting benches inside.  My father was an agent for the Great Northern Railway, which traversed northern Montana, crossing Glacier National Park.  A white Rocky Mountain Goat was the logo of the Great Northern.  This small painting is oil on canvas mounted on wood, 3 inches by 2.5 inches.
