August 26, 2010, The Farmer’s Wife

This is the painting created today.  In Montana, the clear air and bright sun make colors seem bright and glowing, a feeling you may say of a lightness of being (my apologies to Nietzsche, – I appreciate my one life).  This clarity does make one appreciate each moment of being… and each moment of summer.  Summer is quickly leaving us.

Do you remember aprons? When work was not behind a desk or computer, life was messier.  An apron protected your clothes while doing laundry in a washtub, feeding chickens, starting the wood fired stove, and cooking for a crowd.

Size is 5 inches by 3.25 inches.  The painting is oil on canvas.  Click the image for a close-up.
