Easter Snow

Easter Snow is the title of a beautiful traditional Irish air.  It is also an event that we experience here in my hometown in Montana around Easter every year.  We have typically deep, wet snow in the spring, and to awaken on Easter morning and find little girls dressed in snow suits and boots over their new Easter dresses is not unusual.

This is a photo today of the snow that came last night, even though much of it has melted away.  In the center is the ornamental birdhouse that hangs near the garden gate, which I painted last summer.

There is a touching documentary video of the great Irish piper Seamus Ennis, in which, near the end, he plays the tune Easter Snow on the pipes with his daughter Catherine accompanying on the organ.  Here is a link.
