Mothers Day is bittersweet

It is great to hear my son tell me, “Happy Mother’s day, mom.”

I’m happy to have him here in person to hear those words.  We were going to possibly go for a hike together today, but it is raining.

Here is one of my favorite photos of my mother.  You can see the kind of housing that existed in poor Musselshell, Montana, during the depression.  I love that hat she is wearing, and she looks happy to be having her photo taken.

It has been almost 32 years since I could tell her “happy mothers day”.  I do still feel that both my parents are still somehow near, and they often come to me in my dreams.
