At sunset, the clouds billowing over the Bridger mountains are like a Maxfield Parrish painting. The city fireworks will begin at darkness, but I enjoyed this display by nature much more.

Pingback: Nature's 4th of July 2011 sky display, Bozeman, Montana – gallery of art by alice flynn | Bozeman, MT
wow those are some great sunset shots. Makes want to go to Montana and see one for my self.
I recall seeing a tourist standing in a parking lot at the grocery store in awe of a technicolor sunset here in Bozeman, and he remarked, “Oh, that’s why they call it The Big Sky”.
What first caught my eye when I looked out the window at sunset last night was how turquoise blue the sky was up against the pink center of the cloud. I wish my cheap little digital camera could have captured the true colors. They were even more stunning than these shots portray.
